Adrienne Simmons, the First Woman Kickboxer Who Died After a Fight

A normal amateur kickboxing match turned up to be deadly for kickboxer Adrienne Simmons, who is thought to be the first woman boxer killed in this sport.

The fighter, 34, received a serious left hook that knocked her down during the third round of an amateur tournament in Orlando, Florida.

After she fell, Simmons managed to get to the dressing room with some help, but soon collapsed again and had to be taken to the hospital with a helicopter. The doctors did their best, but it was not enough, as she died on Monday.

The fighter’s boyfriend accused the organizers of the event, the International Kickboxing Federation, saying that they should have provided better medical attention.

It took at least 30 minutes for the injured fighter to be loaded in the transport, and almost 60 minutes until she arrived at the hospital.
