Albertina Walker: Gospel Music and Scholarship Foundation
Albertina Walker has been in love with Gospel music since the day she could hear it. Albertina wanted to be born early after her pregnant mother started singing at Chicago’s West Point Baptist Church and went right away into labor. After being born, Albertina first visited the church then their home.
Ever since she started singing gospel music, she became the “Queen of Gospel Music”. Albertina Walker has released over 60 albums, won five gold records, 10 Grammy nominations and one Grammy in 1995. This wonderful Queen of Gospel was mentored by the legendary Mahalia Jackson and she is a member of Gospel Hall of Fame.
Today Albertina Walker is 81-years-old and is admitted in the I.C.U. in critical condition. In 1988 Albertina organized the Albertina Walker Scholarship Foundation, a scholarship that helps providing financial assistance to college students that complete at least one year of music study.
