Apple might launch a smaller iPad?
As the classic iPad is said to be too big for some, rumors start circulating online abut a new, smaller iPad with a considerably smaller weight. The new iPad is said to have a 7-inch screen instead of the 9.7 inch on the currently available model, and a weight of 500 grams instead of 700 grams.
The rumors have been started by a Taiwanese newspaper today. The paper has also reported that Apple has chosen new manufacturers for the components of the new iPad – the LCD touchscreen would be manufactured by LG and Chi Mei, and the digitizers would be made by AUO and Syntec. Pentagon or Compal could be joining Foxconn in the task of assembling the new gadget.
This is not the first time rumors appear about new and smaller Apple products that would be prepared for launch. Last year the same Taiwan newspaper reported the news about an iPhone Nano, a smaller and less sophisticated version of the iPhone. Of course, Apple is still owes us that gadget.
Smaller iPad or not, Apple’s latest gadget is making waves on the market. Although it was much discussed by various specialists, the iPad seems to be a great hit, most of the mobile internet device manufacturers launching their take on the small tablet PC.
