AT&T had to stop iPhone pre-orders
AT&T’s site welcomes customers who want to pre-order the iPhone 4 with a rather confusing message: Pre-orders for iPhone temporarily suspended.
This is not the way AT&T and Apple hoped that the new iPhone’s distribution will start, but similar things happened before with many hyped gadgets.
The iPhone 4’s fame was actually to blame for the problems, as the two companies’ sites were overwhelmed by customers hoping to pre-order the phone.
Another bad news caused by the unexpected demand is that the ship date for the device has now been moved from June 24 to July 2.
Radio Shack also ran into problems and had to suspend its pre-order program.
The only company which seems to have a working pre-order system is Best Buy. Their customers were scheduled for pick-up on June 24.
AT&T is going through a rough period, after the iPad security scandal created a lot of bad press for the carrier.
