Cameron Diaz is more dangerous online than Jessica Biel

Cameron-DiazCelebrities are dangerous in real life – they tend to be aggressive when surrounded by fans or paparazzi – but they are even more dangerous online, especially when it comes to internet searches.

Common searches for news or pictures about celebrities – especially the female ones – can lead users to dangerous websites full of malicious code.

McAfee maintains a list of the most dangerous celebrities online – the study about them is at the fourth edition this year. This list contains the names of the most commonly searched celebrities – sportsmen, actors or politicians – that malevolent web publishers like to use for attracting unsuspecting internet users to their specially prepared web pages.

Last year’s most dangerous celebrity was American actress Jessica Biel, the glamorous brunette we saw in the A-Team movie this year, but her place was taken this year by Cameron Diaz. Searching for her name online gives you a 10% chance to land on a dangerous website. More than that, almost 20% of the sites the search engines displayed for the search terms “Cameron Diaz screensavers” contained malicious code.

Number two on the list is Julia Roberts – 9% of the sites found when searching for her name contain dangerous programs. Last year’s #1, Jessica Biel is the third most dangerous celebrity online.

Other names on the list include Gisele Bündchen, Brad Pitt, Adriana Lima, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Nicole Kidman (this is a tie), Tom Cruise, Heidi Klum and Penelope Cruz (another tie) and Anna Paquin. Be careful when searching for them on the web: you could easily be lured to a web site that could infect your computer.
