Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s Doctor Facing Civil Suit?

Conrad MurrayA year has passed since the controversial death of the King of Pop but Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray is still waiting for his trial. The doctor has been charged with the death of the pop star – the only person who has been charged so far.

Conrad Murray was hired by the AEG Live, the company doing the promotion of Michael Jackson’s This Is It concert tour. The fee paid to him for being Jackson’s personal physician was $150,000 a month during the lead-up to the star’s London concert.

Murray told the police he has attempted to wean Jackson off Propofol – a strong sedative that Jackson was allegedly addicted to – by giving him a combination of sedatives and anti-anxiety drugs and this seems to be the cause of the pop idol’s heart stopping. Jackson was taken to a Los Angeles hospital in a critical condition where he was later declared deceased.

The circumstances of Michael Jackson’s death were confusing, so the cause of the star’s death was deferred and an official autopsy was conducted that has taken a couple of weeks. Conrad Murray claimed that the pop star had a fain pulse when he found him. Murray claimed that he did everything he could but could not save the singer’s life.

Right now, Conrad Murray is still allowed to proceed as a physician in California, keeping his license, but is not allowed to use anesthetics on his patients. Also, there are rumors about a civil lawsuit filed by Michael Jackson’s father, Joseph, against the doctor.
