Discovery Communications: Hostage situation in Silver Spring, Maryland

A hostage situation is taking place in Silver Spring, at Discovery Communications, the headquarters of Discovery Channel.

At least one man has been taken hostage at the building in Silver Springs, Maryland by a man that is said to have had explosives on him.

The situation happens in the lobby area and the man has taken a security guard hostage.

The man had some demands, but it is not yet exactly known whether the police have talked to him. It appears he had some concerns regarding Discovery Corporation. It is only known that it is an Asian male.

Around 1 PM, someone from the building called the Police, saying there was an armed man, possibly also carrying explosives, in the building.

People in the area have been evacuated and there were reports of a bomb squad being at the location.

Children were evacuated from a daycare facility and employees were sent emails to get into locked offices on the floors where they work. Some of them were led outside, avoiding the lobby area.

The Police are working on solving the situation and a lot of employees have been evacuated.
