Earthquake of 6.4 degrees shakes five regions of the Northen Peru
An earthquake measuring 6.4 degrees on the Richter scale struck Tuesday night Amazonas (northeast) and several cities in four other regions, causing some material damage and the power outage in some locations.
The report of the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP) said the quake occurred at 23:15 pm on Wednesday, May 19 and that its epicenter was located 46 kilometers east of Bagua Grande District, at a depth of 219 kilometers.
According to the Mercalli scale, the intensity level reached in Bagua Grande V and III in Chiclayo (Lambayeque).
The quake was also felt in Trujillo (La Libertad), Cajamarca, Jaen and Chota (Cajamarca), Moyabamba and Lamas (San Martin) and Yurimaguas (Loreto).
Civil Defense of the Amazon revealed that for the moment there are not reports of deaths or injuries, but have been reported minor damage such as falling roof tiles and walls, and the power at Moyobamba.
