NBA Finals game 7: Celtics Beaten by Lakers

celtics-vs-lakersVictory came on Thursday night for the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center. The team has defended its NBA championship through beating the Boston Celtics to 83-79. This was the 16th title won by the L.A. Lakers.

In the beginning the Lakers seemed out of focus and ragged, but later they managed to do a 9-0 run in the middle of the fourth quarter, gaining a 6-point lead over the Celtics. The Celtics have recovered a part of the deficit but it was not enough: Sasha Vujacic made two free-throws in 11.7 seconds, deciding the game with his actions.

The Lakers’ coach Phil Jackson was at his first time in Game 7 – this victory brought him his 11th NBA championship ring. Jackson was proud of his team. He said “To put in 114 games and to come out this way, there is a certain sense of gratification.”

Kobe Bryant was voted the most valuable player of the finals for the second year in a row. He has been invited for his fifth ring-fitting ceremony. Coach Jackson said that Bryant has struggled offensively but made up for it in other ways. “He found himself frustrated, but he stayed with it and he found a way to keep this team in it. Mostly defensively and (through his) rebounding.”
