Germany vs. Australia 4-0: convincing win for Germany
Germany won the game against Australia, 4-0, at World Cup 2010.
A very convincing performance for Germany, a team that looks like a true favorite already.
Germany was probably the most convincing favorite so far in the first game and they completely trashed Australia.
Even if at the beginning it looked like Australia actually stood a chance, because they missed a huge opportunity in front of Neuer’s goal, Germany had no problem with that. They scored their first goal in the 10th minute, when Podolski finalized a football moment that looked straight off the training ground, then Klose scored with a header after Lahm’s absolutely perfect cross.
It was 2-0 at halftime, but Germany had already missed some more huge opportunities. Australia’s Cahill was eliminated, maybe too easily, at 2-0. The other two goals were just formalities, As Mueller scored a third and Cacau scored a few minutes after getting onto the pitch. The man of the match was Mesut Oezil, though. He worked a lot, ran a lot, passed perfectly in what was an overall amazing performance.
What’s even more important is that Germany never looked like they were forcing. They look like there’s a lot more where that performance came from.
