Google takes over Slide

superpokeGoogle has confirmed the rumors circulating around the web for days – it has announced the acquisition of Slide Inc., a company involved in creating social games. Slide has developed games like SuperPoke, FunSpace or Top Fish.

Google’s Engineering Director, David Glazer said that for the company he works with the web is about people and they are working to develop open, transparent, interesting and fun ways to allow their users to take full advantage of how technology can bring people closer.

Slide’s specialists will work with Google on making services like Google Docs, Blogger, Picasa or YouTube more socially aware. This job will not be hard for them, as – according to Slide’s founder Max Levchin – they share vision and values with Google. Levchin has called this acquisition a huge opportunity for both companies to come together and change the way people are socializing online.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not discussed by any of the companies, but rumors say that the amount paid by Google was around $200 million.
