Irak suicide attacks: At least 48 people killed
48 people, at least, have been killed in suicide attacks in Iraq on Sunday.
Among those killed are members of a government-supported militia that was against the Al-Qaeda, called the Sahwa.
In the first attack, the militia members were standing in a line to get their wages, close to a military base. The military base is situated southwest of Baghdad.
These bombing are part of a series of attacks that took place in Irak. They had the Sons of Iraq as their target. The Sons of Iraq are a Sunni organization that works with the government to fight the Al-Qaeda.
The United States have started lowering its presence in the country, and the security of the territory is now in the hands of the government.
The second attack took place in a Sawha headquarter building in Qaim, close to the Syrian border. The attacker opened fire on the people inside. Even if the Sahwa members wounded him, he blew himself up when they got closer. Three Sahwa member were killed, and six were wounded.
Another attack took place in Mahaweel, 35 miles south of Baghdad. Fire was opened on a Sahwa checkpoint. One person was injured.
30 minutes later, a Sahwa member has been wounded when a roadside bomb blew up, hitting his car.
