Keith “Guru” Elam Gang Starr rapper dies at 43

Keith Guru Elam Gang StarrRapper Keith “Guru” Elam, known for projects such as Gang Starr and Jazzmatazz, died this April 19 for a year after fighting against cancer. In February he had been admitted after suffering a heart attack, which degenerated into a coma. The MC, whose real name Keith Elam, formed in 1987, Gang Starr, one of the most influential hip-hop with the likes of Public Enemy. Among its productions songs like ‘Mass Appeal’. Then he embarked on the Jazzmatazz series and a solo career with the help of producer and MC Solar, which have degenerated a little war in recent years.

Solar has released a letter purportedly written by Guru on his deathbed in which he requested that his former partner in Gang Starr, DJ Premier, do not use the name of the duo, and which also addresses his fans, friends and loved ones in this way. “I had a long fight against cancer and I succumbed to the disease. I have had the disease for more than a year and have exhausted all medical options. Solar and your family are my family and I hope my family, friends and fans respect that. That said, let the love of my life, KC, I am confident that by Solar and family care. All prizes must be accepted or tributes, arranged and approved by Solar.”

They are very harsh words for his former teammate DJ Premier, who says he does not want anything to do at events, tributes, etc., and for seven years have not had any relationship in life and do not want that to happen after his death. DJ Premier, however, has sent his condolences to the family of Guru through his blog. Now it has added a message that says the card is issued by means of Solar hand, not Guru, and has “mixed feelings.” In any event, asking people to listen to the songs of Guru and who is remembered through them.
