Lenovo launches its greenest line of laptops

Lenovo launched its latest line of laptops, the ThinkPad L Series, promoted as the the company’s most eco friendly models up to date.

Created for both business and regular customers, the series has a 14 inch model, named L412 and a 15 inch one, the L512. Both are quite powerful machines, available with Intel Core i5 and i3 processor and onboard ATI mobility Radeon graphics chips. Both the 14 and the 15 inch laptop come with high definition displays, with 16:9 aspect ratio and antiglare coating and multitouch capable touchpads. The operating systems installed by Lenovo on the two models is the Windows 7 with Lenovo Enchanced Experience, a feature that promises faster boot and shutdown times.

The two models form the ThinkPad L Series have some advanced video conferencing features, including a high resolution webcams capable of capturing images even in low light conditions, a digital-array microphone with echo cancellation, a set of accurate speakers placed behind the display and an advanced VOIP(Voice over IP) software.

Connectivity is another strong point for the new Lenovo laptops, both of them having Ethernet , Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G options.

Lenovo aims these new models for business, educational or personal usage, and keeping this in mind, provides a highly resistant case. The L Series models can take the daily wear and tear of an office or even far more punishment on the field, remaining unharmed by dust, high variations in temperature or vibrations.

Battery life is average, to good, with an estimated time of 8 hours and there’s plenty of expansion options, offered by the 4 USB ports, a combo USB/eSATA Port and a Display Port.

The eco friendly construction and operation of the new L Series has been heavily advertised by Lenovo. According to them, both laptops meet Energy Star 5 and EPEAT Gold standards and use with up to 40% less power than the company’s previous models. Power consumption is further reduced thanks to the Lenovo Power Manager software. Contributing to the „greenest laptop” title is the packaging of the products, that is almost 100% made of recycled products

ThinkPad L412 and L512 will be available from May, at prices starting from approximately 650$.
