London Marathon: Around 35000 people expected to run
The London Marathon is to take place tomorrow, April 25th and some 35000 participants are expected. The organizers were afraid that the crisis of the ash cloud that the Iceland volcano produced would cause important racers to miss the marathon, but planes are flying and everything should be very close to normal tomorrow, at the start of the race.
Even the weather seems to be on the organizers’ side, with 75 Fahrenheit degrees being the predicted temperature at the time of the race.
If you’re living in London, you need to know that, as it always happens the day of the Marathon, there will be extensive road closures on April 25th. You can find the list of road closure on News Provider.
One of the runners that is expected to put out a good performance at this year’s Virgin London Marathon is Eritrea athlete Zersenay Tadese. The winner of the 2009 Birmingham Marathon announced he would be entering this year’s race.
His main competitors will probably be Kenyan racers. Last year’s winner Sammy Wanjiru is joined by Abel Kirui and Duncan Kibet in trying to bring the title to the African country.
