Mark Hurd to be hired by Oracle

mark_hurdHewlett Packard’s former CEO, Mark Hurd, is said to be in talks to take a high-profile job at the database software giant Oracle, run by his friend Larry Ellison. The news comes from a person with direct knowledge of the discussion.

Ellison is not known to be leaving Oracle’s CEO position any time soon, so the job in question is not that of the chief executive of the company.

Mark Hurd has stepped down as a result of claims of harassment made by one of HP’s female contractors. He was also accused of submitting inaccurate expense reports in order to cover up his relationship with the said contractor. Although the harassment allegations were not confirmed, Hurd was forced to step down from the position of HP’s CEO.

Ellison, co-founder and CEO of Oracle, said that letting Hurd go was one of HP’s worst personnel decision since Steve Jobs was forced out of Apple.
