Meat Recall: Dangerous Bacteria Might Be Present
People will start thinking seriously if their food is safe to eat, as another food recall, this time involving meat products is in progress.
Zemco Industries, a company from Buffalo has already recalled 380,000 pounds of deli meat, fearing that the products might be contaminated by a bacteria that causes Listeriosis, an extremely serious diseases that can be life threatening.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture the meat products were distributed to Wal-Mart shops nationwide but the stores immediately removed the meat from their shelves after finding out about the situation.
The bacteria that causes the disease, named Listeria monocytogenes, was first discovered in a sample by inspectors, in Georgia. Fortunately there have been no illnesses reported that might be associated with consumption of the meat products.
Here is a list with the meat products recalled:
- 25.5-pound cases of “Marketside Grab and Go Sandwiches BLACK FOREST HAM With Natural Juices Coated with Caramel Color” with the number 17800 1300.
- 28.49-pound cases of “Marketside Grab and Go Sandwiches HOT HAM, HARD SALAMI, PEPPERONI, SANDWICH PEPPERS” with the number 17803 1300.
- 32.67-pound cases of “Marketside Grab and Go Sandwiches VIRGINIA BRAND HAM With Natural Juices, MADE IN NEW YORK, FULLY COOKED BACON, SANDWICH PICKLES, SANDWICH PEPPERS” with the number 17804 1300.
- 25.5-pound cases of “Marketside Grab and Go Sandwiches ANGUS ROAST BEEF Coated with Caramel Color” with the number 17805 1300.
Also, the meats were produced from from June 18 to July 2, 2010 and Wal-Mart also noted that Marketside Grab and Go sandwiches are involved in the recall, but not individual packages of deli meat
