Netherlands vs. Brazil: World Cup 2010 match preview

Rafael van der VaartNetherlands meets Brazil in what could be a very exciting game at World Cup 2010.

It’s not only because one of these goes to the semifinals, but also because they’ve both played some of the most efficient football at the tournament so far.

The Netherlands have looked more like a team than like a collection of individual players. They play a very secure defensive game, but also, when they attack, they use their collective force. And, what’s even more important, they don’t force themselves. They force as much as they need to overcome their opponent.

Dunga has transformed Brazil completely, on the other hand. A team that used to be all about creation and playing spectacular football now has a very safe defense and great counterattacking skills. They rely a lot on individual capabilities of extraordinary players to score, but they succeed in doing so.

That is why we are expecting a great game, even if not one with many goals scored (even if, with players like Robinho, Luis Fabiano and Robben, you never know…)
