Netherlands vs. Denmark 2-0: It could have been worse for Denmark

Rafael van der VaartNetherlands vs. Denmark ended 2-0, but it could have been much worse for Denmark.

And that’s because Netherlands controlled the whole game, while Denmark tried to defend as well as they could.

Opportunities kept on coming at the Danish goal, and only the lack of inspiration from the Netherlands attacking players and the very good day that Thomas Sorensen had stopped the Danish from conceding earlier.

Earlier than the 46th minute, when he was ironically beaten by his own colleague Simon Poulsen. This was the punishment for being concerned mostly with defense and having just 3 attempts at goal in the second half.

Dirk Kuyt sealed the game in the 85th minute, but the Netherlands could have easily scored a few more goals, as their second half performance was even more convincing.

They honored their favorite status and are now leading the group before the game between Cameroon and Japan.
