Noise advisory for downtown Boston and neighborhood suburbs May 3-9
The United States Marine Corps is placing a noise advisory for the downtown Boston area and neighboring suburbs from May 3-9 during Marine Week Boston. During this week the city will open its doors to approximately 900 Marines who are here to participate in a variety of community outreach events and capabilities exercises.
Throughout the week, aircraft and vehicles will be moving to various locations across the city. Citizens should be advised there will be occasional noise disturbances as aircraft are flown into Boston Common on Monday morning and extracted on Friday morning. Additionally, wheeled and tracked vehicles will be brought to locations at Boston Common, Copley Square, Faneuil Hall and Charlestown Navy Yard Monday morning and extracted on Friday morning. On Friday, all vehicles will move to Moakley Park for Saturday’s Family Day, which begins at noon and includes a combat air and ground show demonstration. All movements are will take place after the morning rush hour, but may cause some slight traffic delays.
The Marine Corps will make every effort to keep the noise and traffic disturbances to a minimum and appreciates the patience of Bostonians during this week-long celebration of country and Corps.
