NYC Triathlon: Wassner Defends Her Title After The Hottest Event So Far
The Nautica NYC Triathlon ended today with the victory of Rebeccah Wassner, in the women’s division and Filip Osaly in the men’s division.
The extreme heat, this being the warmest running of the NYC Triathlon, proved to be an additional obstacle in the path of the 3000+ athletes who toured the Upper West Side and Central Park.
Rebeccah Wassner, the New Yorker who also won the event last year finished first, in 2:01:30, followed by her twin sister Laurel Wassner.
Both are fresh members of the New York Athletic Club’s new triathlon team.
Czech triathlete Filip Osaly finished first in the men’s division.
This was a real surprise as everybody expected that the winner will be American Matt Reed, who later said that had a really bad day.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta was also in the race, giving the Nautica Triathlon extra exposure.
