Obama Ground Zero Mosque: Michael Bloomberg praised the project

President Barack ObamaWashington – Friday night president Obama gave another speech about race and tolerance, also talking about religion and tolerance in matters of the near Ground Zero Mosque.

Mr. Obama thought this was a good time to address the growing dispute regarding the near Ground Zero Mosque, a proposed project that sparked numerous controversial discussions. According to the U.S President, those who are fighting freedom of religion are not Islam representatives, Al Qaeda is not a formation of religious leaders, they are terrorists who are sacrificing innocent people, including women and children. They have disgraced Islam and Mr. Obama wanted to remind the people of America that Islam is not Al Qaeda! The real American Muslims are not violent and they don’t murder people, they are honest workers. And at the next week’s iftar from the Pentagon, there will be a tribute paid to three soldiers who died in Iraq and now they rest among other heroes of Arlington National Cemetery.

After Friday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg praised President Barack Obama’s support for the mosque . Bloomberg has always been a strong supporter of the plan to build an Islamic community center and now after hearing Mr. Obama’s speech about freedom of religion, the Mayor of New York is even more supportive of the project. In matters of equal rights, Obama thinks that Islamic members of the community can build a mosque on a private property, even if it is located in lower Manhattan.

Obama’s speech tries to reject the arguments of the Anti-Ground Zero Mosque group that states that the mosque would dishonor the people who’ve died on 9/11. Among the strong opponents there’s Sarah Palin.

The president didn’t convince the opponents with his speech of tolerance. The New York’s Conservative Party plans to make a huge public argument in the matter of the near Ground Zero Mosque. There are TV ad campaigns planned to pressure the New York City utility to stop the near Ground Zero Mosque project. The ads tell the American citizen that the mosque is a project set by an not-American Muslim leader.

According to Rick Lazio, the Conservative nominee for governor, the campaign is trying to mobilize New Yorkers to stop this near Ground Zero Mosque that brings a lot of pain to the victims of the 9/11 tragedy and asks questions about the groups that will fund the project.

So far, the polls show that the people of New York are opposing the mosque if it is located too close to the site of the Sep. 11 attacks.
