RFK Bridge Closed For False Alarm
A U-Haul truck witch was found disabled and abandoned on the RFK Bridge late Wednesday evening caused major traffic jam for apparently no reason. The empty truck was supposed to be leaking fuel.
New York Police Department Emergency Service Unit and the NYPD Bomb Squad was at the scene to investigate the vehicle while all the lanes was closed for over an hour by the MTA Bridges and Tunnels officers.
NYPD announced that the abandoned U-Haul truck at RFK Bridge was found to empty and harmless. Soon after this statement the RFK Bridge was reopened. However the authorities concerns are justified and they are not willing to take any chances after the failed bomb incident in Times Square last week-end.
