Slovenia vs. USA: the USA get draw after fabulous first half and cancelled goal
The USA vs. Slovenia game ended in a draw, after the USA played an incredible second half.
The USA have scored twice after being led 2-0 at halftime.
Donovan and Bradley were the scorers in what was an incredible second half.
USA was led 2-0 by Slovenia at halftime in the World Cup 2010 group game. Amazingly enough (considering the score) USA was the better team.
And that, even if Birsa opened the scoring for Slovenia in the 13th minute.
Over the first 45 minutes, USA ran a lot, created lots of chances, but the boys couldn’t take them. They had one attack after the other, but the ball just wouldn’t go in.
Slovenia on the other hand played a very good counterattacking game, scoring every time they got. Birsa was first. He scored a superb effort in the 13th minute, and then they absorbed the USA team’s pressure, as the US missed chance after chance.
Ljubijankic was the one to score Slovenia’s second goal on a counterattack, but after the break, Donovan scored for 2-1, with a beautiful shot.
They continued to force, and Bradley scored for the draw in the 80th minute. The USA also had a valid goal canceled, a goal that could have been the winning one.
Slovenia now leads the group with 4 points, while the USA is second, with 2 points. England is to play Algeria.
