Steve Carell Leaving “The Office” After Season 7?

Steve Carell Leaving The OfficeSteve Carell has confirmed himself: he will be leaving the successful TV series “The Office” after the seventh season. Rumors about him leaving the series started circulating in the spring, but no confirmation (or denial) of the news were published until now.

Carell will fulfill his contract term and then he might leave the series – at least this is what he said in an interview. He said: “I think [season] 7 will be my last year. I want to fulfill my contract. I think it’s a good time to move on.” When he was asked if there was anything that could change his mind, he said that he wants to spend some time with his family. He may even focus again on the movie business. This move is one we can’t blame him for: seven years on the same series in quite a commitment.

The Office is a television comedy series depicting the everyday lives of office employees of a fictional paper company, filmed in documentary style. The critically acclaimed series is a remake of a BBC series, originally created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, executive producers of the American show. Steve Carell plays Michael Scott, regional manager of the company.
