Teen Choice Awards 2010 – The Vampires Win
Box office results and TV ratings say the verdict: the most popular freaks of this year in the media are definitely vampires. This year’s Teen Choice Awards were ruled by these mysterious bloodsuckers: most of the trophies were won by the most popular vampire franchises of this year: The Twilight Saga on the big screen and The Vampire Diaries on television.
Twilight gathered twelve awards, including those for the best male and female performance taken home by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Pattinson was also awarded for another movie, the romantic drama “Remember Me”. Taylor Lautner, the werewolf that broke so many hearts, was also awarded for being the choice male hottie, the choice red-carpet icon and for having the choice smile.
The other big vampire winner of the awards was the TV series The Vampire Diaries, based on the novels written by L. J. Smith. The show won seven awards, including the one for the choice fantasy and science fiction show, the choice male actor in the category – Paul Wesley – and the choice actress in the category – Nina Dobrev. Ian Somerhalder won the choice villain award for his role as the blue-eyed evil vampire Damon Salvatore in the series.
Most of the music categories were reigned supreme by Canadian teen star Justin Bieber. Justin could not be there in person, but has spoken via satellite.
The Teen Choice Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles on Sunday. You can watch the awarding ceremony tonight on the Fox television network.
