The Big C, a different kind of comedy show by Showtime
Have you ever had the feeling that when everything seems to be going great, all of a sudden you find out some terrible news that puts down all your enthusiasm? Well, that’s what “The Big C” show is all about. In a funny way, of course!
Meet Cathy Jamison (played by Laura Linney), a mother and a schoolteacher. She lives a perfect happy life until one day when she discovers she has cancer. In the first episode you get to see how she learns about her diagnosis and her struggle about how to tell the family about it. Of course, in a funny way!
The Big C will premiere on Monday at 10.30 p.m.
Cathy Jamison, the regular mom and schoolteacher just wants a pool, that’s the first thing on her bucket list. She has childish husband (Oliver Platt), a brad of a son (Gabriel Basso) and a Dumpster-diving brother (John Benjamin Hickey) and now she realizes she’s got a much shorter life to live after finding out she’s been diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma.
Showtime is focusing on a different type of comedy show, after Lie to me and Weeds, two very popular shows. The hidden message of the show is about prevention, about taking care of yourself and live your life as if today would be the last day of your life. Skin cancer can be prevented 99% of the time. If people would just go to the doctor in time and if they would use oil with solar protection and sunscreens, then skin cancer would be a forgotten disease. But it is not. One in three people that live in Florida get a form of skin cancer.
