The Dog Eat Owner’s Toe to Save The Man’s Life!
Until you judge the dog after reading the title, wait to hear the whole story. The man in the story, owner of the dog is Jerry Douthett. He’s 48, is a musician and lives in Rockford, Mi. For more than a month Jerry had a toe infected but didn’t go to the clinic, although his wife, Rosee is a nurse. The two have a great dog named Kiko, a Jack Russell terrier.
One night, after going out celebrating Rosee becoming an American citizen, Jerry had a few too many drinks and fell asleep in the bedroom. When he woke up he saw Kiko next to their bed and the sheets near the foot all covered in blood. The dog had chewed off the infected toe! Of course both Jerry and Rosee got scared that Kiko might be an aggressive dog but after taking care of the wound and getting in time to a clinic, they realized that in fact Kiko has chewed up Jerry’s infected toe. The dog stopped when he managed to chew all the infected part of the toe.
Because Jerry Douthett was too afraid to go to the doctor, he even used to hide his infected and smelly toe from the dog and his nurse wife, he could have died if the dog wouldn’t have chewed up that infection. After this event got in the news and the police found out about it, the dog was put under supervision. The two lucky Americans are happy that all ended well but still they keep an eye on the dog just to make sure this has been only an attempt to save the man’s life and not a sign of aggression.
note: the dog in the photo is not Kiko, the actual dog. It is a cute Jack Russell Terrier, a dog renowned for its devotion to its owner.
