U.S. Open 2010: Vera Zvonareva Reaches the Semifinals
Russian Vera Zvonareva played a good and safe game and reached her first semifinal at the U.S. Open 2010 with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Estonian Kaia Kanepi.
Vera Zvonareva (No. 7 seed) will play the winner of Wednesday quarterfinal match between Caroline Wozniacki and Dominika Cibulkova.
“In these conditions, the most important thing is to find the right balance between being aggressive and being patient,” Zvonareva said. The windy conditions required both players to adapt to the weather conditions.
“We had some ridiculous rallies out there. I was putting all the effort into hanging in there.” continued Zvonareva.
