UK general election results 2010: almost final results – Conservative victory, by a small margin
The UK 2010 Elections could yield some rather surprising results, but it would seem that David Cameron will be the new Prime Minister. As we are getting closer and closer to the final results, a hung parliament seems highly possible, with very tough negotiations seeming like a plausible option.
A lot of predictions would claim David Cameron has very high chances of being the new Prime Minister, especially since, after 608 of 650 have been counted, indicate a Conservative victory, but one by quite a small margin.
So far, the Conservatives have won 288 seats, followed by Labour, at 242. The two “big” parties are followed by the Liberal Democrats. They have won 51 seats so far, while the Scottish National Party has 6 seats. Not enough to pose a threat to anyone.
What’s certain is that, even if David Cameron will be the new Prime Minister, the Conservatives won’t have enough seats to form a majority and, as we said, tough negotiations are on the way. There are also voices that say that a minoritary Conservative government can also govern without having a majority. But this remains to be seen after the results will be final, which shouldn’t take too long now.
