Verizon to launch more Android handsets
We live in the era of the online leaks, when not even the government or the military can avoid being exposed online, let alone the mobile service providers – so it can be no surprise that Verizon’s roadmap has hit the great online, allowing us to see their plans regarding the launch of future handsets for the rest of the year and beyond.
Somebody back at Verizon seems to be a huge Android fan – or could it be their partnership with Google around the net neutrality proposals? Whichever it is, it seems that Verizon is preparing some really interesting Android handsets for the near future.
One of these is the Motorola Droid Pro, possibly hitting the shops in November. This handset – said to be the corporate revamping of the Droid X – will support GSM and HSPA (and possibly global roaming), will have a 1.3 GHz processor and a 4 inch touchscreen. The Droid Pro will come equipped with the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, the Android 2.2.
The other interesting smartphone said to be released as a Verizon exclusive is the LG enV Touch 2. This device will have not one, but two touchscreens as well as a QWERTY keyboard hidden inside its clamshell design. This one will have Android 2.1 installed at the time of launch, but users will have the possibility to upgrade their smart phones to Android 2.2 by the holidays.
Other smartphones in Verizon’s offer might include (if the leaked roadmap is indeed the real one) another Motorola phone in a slab format with a full touchscreen, Samsung and HTC handsets with Android OS on them and Samsung tablets of various dimensions (7″ and 10.1″ rumored) with Android 3.0 on them.
This season looks like a very interesting one for Verizon users.
