Whale Vs Boat: Tip – Nobody Really Wins

As unlikely as it might seem, except if you’re a Moby Dick fan, a 40 ton whale hit and landed on Paloma Werner and Ralph Mothes’s boat today, a couple sailing in the waters off Cape Town, South Africa.

They were doing some whale watching and have been following one whale for an hours or so, before the animal decided to send a warning.

Fortunately, after the giant whale leapt 10 meters and crashed on their small, 33ft boat, The Intrepid, the only major damage reported was a snapped mast. A few seconds later, the whale fell back in the water and continued swimming.

Even if the photo that appeared on the internet soon after the event made some people question its authenticity, the two whale-accident survivors appeared on TV and confirmed the event.

They said that it was an extraordinary experience for them, but one that they are not very eager to repeat.
