World Cup 2010: Italy vs. Paraguay match preview

Italy vs. Paraguay will be quite an interesting game from group F. (Watch Italy vs. Paraguay live video stream)

I’m saying this especially because Italy, as title holders, will have to try and keep the Cup.

In order to be able to achieve this, they have to win tonight against Paraguay. It would seem like an easy game for Italy, but there are no small teams at World Cup tournaments, so the Italians should take all the games very seriously.

Even if it would seem that Marcello Lippi’s boys have the easiest group, out of all the favorites, they can’t consider themselves qualified.

Lippi said that his team won’t have a fixed formation, and that they would play different styles, according to the opponents they meet, but it will be interesting to see how he decides to approach tonight’s game.

It would seem that Gilardino is the one expected to deliver the firepower, helped by a trident behind him – Pepe, Marchisio and Iaquinta.

Paraguay do have stars of their own, that could make the difference in this one – Roque Santa Cruz and Cardozo, but it seems like they will start the game on the bench with Lucas being the first choice striker.
